Apex Service Partners, a leading national company in the high growth residential home services industry, is seeking P&L Leader Internswho are passionate about helping to build a world-class organization with an interest in learning day-to-day operations of a residential home services business. The ideal candidate should be prepared to be embedded in a dynamic, cross-disciplined team environment within one of our brand locations. Through this leadership experience, the candidate will receive a broad, well-rounded education in the areas of all aspects of leading a successful business, including organic revenue growth, P&L management, performance metric management, and culture-building.

Apex Service Partners was founded through the acquisition of multiple leading home services businesses providing HVAC, plumbing and electrical services. This very fragmented industry is dominated by small and founder-owned businesses; these entrepreneurs, in many cases, have spent decades building companies that are respected essential services in their communities. Our strategy is to execute significant organic growth initiatives and high-frequency M&A.

Position Overview 

 

  • At least 10-12 weeks in duration – depending on circumstances, the right candidate may continue in our program if invited, and available, after 12 weeks.  This specific role will report to our Mauzy brand in San Diego. 
  • Apex can customize its P&L Leader Internship experience to a candidate’s situation, and will have a cohort of several from June 2025 – August 2025 (flexible based on academic calendar) 
  • Full time (40+ hours per week) 

 

This leadership role is suited for a strong competitor who excels in a fast-paced environment, often unstructured environment, driven by seizing opportunities in an industry that many overlook; our leaders are career contrarians with strong character and vision. The ideal candidate will be able to consider strategic, financial, and operational capabilities with a high level of emotional intelligence to help create a healthy, growing organization.  

 

Candidate Requirements 

  • Current MBA student (first- or second-year) 
  • Desire to pursue General Management and executive track P&L ownership  
  • High level of EQ; personable and adaptable 
  • Ability and desire to work with blue-collar employees 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills 
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, risk analysis and develop solutions 
  • A leader of character 
  • A leader who inspires “followership” amongst the men and women they serve (manage) 
  • Naturally comfortable in unstructured environments; “thinks on the fly” and “solves problems in real time” (we are an underdeveloped, underserved industry…and we’re impacting it quickly!)
